The Garden That RemembersA tribute to our son, Frans Junior

During the time of COVID, we lost our beloved son, Frans Junior — a loss that left our family forever changed. To honour his memory, I turned to what was real, grounding, and beautiful: the gardens of Kilima Franschhoek.
There, in the stillness of stone and soil, I found a way to speak the words grief could not. Karoo Arcadia, the centrepiece of this space, tells a story of survival, nurturing, and transformation. Through a Praying Mantis, a migrating bird, and the birdbaths that surround them, we honour the cycle of life, the strength of motherhood, and the enduring spirit of a soul taken too soon.
This garden is our tribute to him — and to the quiet hope that even in sorrow, there is beauty to be found.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Children aged 12 years and younger (maximum two children per room) will be accommodated free of charge on a Bed Only basis if sharing with one or two adults, but will be charged for breakfast. Children occupying their own rooms will be charged the full adult rate. Children aged 0-2, no charge. Children aged 3-12, 50% of the applicable rate per meal per day for breakfast. This policy does not apply to room service meals.
